DAMASCUS, (SANA) – President of the Damascus Chamber of Industry, Samer Al-Debbs, revealed the extent of the damage caused to the industrial establishments as a result of the rain storm that hit and amounted to 4 billion Syrian pounds.
Al-Debbs asked the government to find solutions for those affected, such as compensation for damages to farmers from the Drought Mitigation Fund, or to grant them advances, soft loans and financial exemptions in order to buy new machines.
Some of these facilities have returned to zero, and the government can compensate from the fund established by Decree No. 37 / 2015, including the allocation of 0,3 per cent of the value of imports for the rehabilitation and protection of cities and industrial zones.
The industrial facilities in the Adra area were drowned after the flooding of the dam of Dumair due to the amount of rain in excess of storage capacity.
