The new Minister of Internal Trade retracts his decision to cancel the localization mechanism for bread!

The Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Amr Salem, retracted his decision to stop the “localization” mechanism for distributing bread in the governorates of Lattakia, Hama and Tartous, hours after its approval.
The minister justified, through a post on his personal page on “Facebook”, the reasons for retracting the decision, as “respect for the constitution,” which prevents decisions from being taken before taking the oath.
Salem added that the “localization” mechanism is still in progress, but the General Organization for Bakeries has worked to “automatically fill out cards for citizens whose bread allowances have expired before today’s date.”
The new minister reiterated his promises about “the ministry’s attempt to find a comprehensive solution to the bread problem with the cabinet.”
On Thursday morning, Amr Salem issued a decision to stop the mechanism applied since 1 August, which he explained that it causes “confusion to citizens in some governorates.”
Since its application, the “localization” mechanism has been met with complaints and demands to cancel it, due to the failure of some citizens in Lattakia governorate to obtain their daily allowances of bread, and some of them obtained it with a low weight, as a result of the shortage of the substance at the specified authorized person.
On August 3, the local newspaper, Al-Watan, published a video entitled “Shocking Result of the New Mechanism,” in which an authorized person in Lattakia appears in front of hundreds of bags of bread, waiting for the citizens registered with him to buy their allowances.
Citizens also complained about not being able to choose the authorized person near their homes, and having to travel a distance to get their allowances, if they found them.
In a report by Al-Watan newspaper on August 1, citizens expressed their dissatisfaction with the amount allocated to them, and women explained their suffering from not being able to receive their grandchildren or children during holidays, as guests, without coming with their allotments of bread.
In Tartous Governorate, three days after its implementation, the people demanded the necessity of retracting this mechanism, as their complaints centered on the failure of many citizens to receive bread deliveries, and consequently their failure to obtain bread from the accredited.
The Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, during the era of the former Minister, Talal Al-Barazi, had worked over the past months to export a “localization” mechanism for distributing bread to citizens in its areas of administration, as the best solution to end the crises related to bread, such as queues, the problems of accredited people and corruption. Interspersed.
The ministry’s statements were preceded by preparing to work with “localization” as an experimental mechanism in a specific number of governorates, to start implementing it at the beginning of this August, for a period of no less than five months.
On July 11, the government raised the price of bread by 100 percent, bringing the price of a bag to 200 pounds from 100 Syrian pounds, in addition to a series of price increases that included diesel, gasoline, sugar and rice.
Under the “localization” mechanism, the allowances for one individual of bread were set in one bag every two days, while a family consisting of three members was entitled to 30 bags a month, two bags a day.
