The Director of the Insurance Supervisory Authority, Dr. Rafid Muhammad, said that a decision was taken by the Board of Directors of the Insurance Supervisory Authority to double the compensation granted to those affected by traffic accidents for cars insured with compulsory insurance.
According to statements to “Cham FM”, the increase included only physical compensation, without an increase in material compensation, as well as without placing additional burdens on citizens or owners of insured cars.
While the premiums for the insurance tariffs have remained the same since mid-2020, such as: the private car whose tariff is set at 18,000 Syrian pounds.
The death compensation has also become five million Syrian pounds for each death of the legal heirs. As for the permanent disability compensation, the prescribed disability percentage is multiplied by five million pounds per injured person.
Muhammad pointed out that the pregnancy compensation consisting of 60,000 Syrian pounds for each pregnancy and unemployment compensation became 100,000 pounds per month for the first three months, and fifty thousand pounds per month for the remaining months, with a maximum of six months for each affected person.
He added, that the actual costs of treatment and medication have become a maximum of one and a half million pounds for each affected person, and compensation for material damages to others is three million pounds for a maximum of one affected.
