As every year, before the start of the Christmas season and New Year’s Eve, advertisements for parties and artistic programs are spread in restaurants and hotels, but what is remarkable for this year is that these parties will be the preserve of “the wealthy of society and its velvet class,” and the poor or middle-class Syrians will no longer be able to hold celebrations. Even household ones because of high prices and low wages!
“Rush” in advertising!
The party organizers, whether in restaurants or hotels, rushed to negotiate with some stars of Arab art to revive the parties in exchange for huge sums, party prices range between 150 and 250 thousand pounds, in restaurants and huge hotels, while in regular restaurants, the ticket price per person is equivalent to three quarters of the employee’s salary. Almost “after the increase”, the reservation per person reaches 75,000, and most places are now booked, according to a conducted by “Hashtag” in the capital, Damascus.

During the past year, and due to the spread of the Corona virus, tourism issued a set of decisions to control the work of tourist facilities within the application of precautionary measures to confront the virus, although many facilities violated those decisions, which is not the first time.
And for one day in the previous year, the Ministry of Tourism issued a new circular banning the artistic corner on New Year’s Eve, after the abuses that occurred during the Christmas celebrations, and the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ghiath Al-Farrah, said in a previous statement to “Hashtag”, that the decision circulated by the ministry Based on the presence of some violations, where the artistic corner, which was allowed, “oud player or one person”, turned into a large party, and the lack of commitment by the tourist facilities to distance and preventive measures, and therefore it is possible, through the last circular, to control the owners of these facilities, by preventing the presence of artistic corner completely.
However, today, with the approach of Christmas and New Year’s Eve, tourism “remains silent” despite the announcements of big celebrations.
