The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor in Syria, Muhammad Seif El-Din, revealed that in the next stage, work will be done to dissolve and integrate a group of community associations.
Seif El-Din said in a special statement to “Hashtag” that the number of community associations reached two thousand at the level of Syria, and in the capital, Damascus alone, about 600 associations, while the effective number of the total number of associations does not exceed 500.
Seif El-Din continued saying that it was circulated to the directorates of social affairs and labor in all governorates to provide the ministry with accurate information about effective associations, because there is a real thought of merging the associations that work, with their counterparts that do not work, and in return the ineffective associations that do not have a similar association so that it merges with, will be dissolved.
Seif El-Din noted the importance of societal associations, saying that “without them, the Syrian citizen would not have been able to withstand during the harsh war period that passed through the country because it was the largest supporter of the state and the largest assistant to the citizen.”
The statement of the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mohamed Seif El-Din, came on the sidelines of the symposium that was sponsored by him yesterday, under the supervision of the “Haqqi” legal human rights association, entitled “Promoting a Culture of Complaint”, and in the presence of the Ministers of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Social Affairs and Labor, and representatives of various Governmental entities.
In an interview with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Haqqi” Association, Maher Raya, said that the aim of this association is to consolidate the relationship between the citizen and state institutions in accordance with legal principles, work to transmit and publish complaints, and demand the rights of citizens as stipulated by law, through channels consistent with The systems and laws in force, the defense of the rule of law and respect for the state and its institutions, and the fight against corruption in all its forms and titles, old and new.
The symposium witnessed a kind of question and answer and interaction between the official and the symposium attendees.
The Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Muhammad Hassan Qatana, said during the symposium that the culture of complaint is very important, but we do not want the association to have what happened with the Consumer Protection Association, there is the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, in addition to the Consumer Protection Association, which created a kind of overlap and problem at the same time, which established the feeling within the consumer that he is not protected.
Qatana acknowledged that there are complaints in the Ministry of Agriculture about the scarcity of some production requirements that some exploit through brokering and sometimes trading.
As for the Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Amr Salem, said during his speech at the symposium that “the lack of a culture of complaint is due to two reasons; the first is the nature of society inclined towards mercy, and the unwillingness to cause harm to anyone even if the person is harmed, according to him, and the other aspect is the fear of complaint in To cause him some kind of problems with the defendant.”
During the symposium, Salem acknowledged the possibility of corrupt people in his ministry in addition to the corrupt in society for cheating with materials, indicating the presence of government agencies to follow up on all complaints against anyone, according to him.
