Syrian President Bashar al-Assad emphasized the importance of the role of army in both war and reconstruction.
He pointed out that Syria faces challenges at various levels, especially military and economic.
Al-Assad’s speech came in a speech he addressed to the Syrian army on the occasion of the seventy-seventh anniversary of the Army’s Day, by the People’s Army magazine, which speaks on behalf of the army today, Monday.
“Our country today faces enormous challenges at various levels and directions, especially militarily and economically, which calls for concerted efforts to overcome obstacles, take the initiative and direct the compass of national action in the right direction,” the Syrian president said.
He stressed that “the army has always been for war and reconstruction, and its institutions were strongly present in the fields of building and upgrading the country, fortifying it and preserving the dignity of its citizens.”
Al-Assad urged the army institution to “maintain discipline and commitment in carrying out training and combat missions, and to exert maximum efforts in the fields of practical and theoretical training, in a manner that serves the national duty and the requirements of confrontation with any potential enemy.”
