The governor of the Syrian city of Al-Hasakah, Louay Muhammad Sayouh, revealed the success of joint Russian and Syrian efforts to deliver electricity to the Alouk project wells station, in the countryside of Ras al-Ain, north of the province.
Sayouh explained that this step comes after a full week of power cuts, as a result of major encroachments on the electricity transmission line and drinking water supply lines, according to Sputnik.
Sayouh accused the factions subject to the Turkish occupation forces that control the area of cutting off the power, pointing to the restoration of electricity to the station to give these groups an opportunity for 48 hours under Russian mediation, with promises to remove all encroachments on the lines.
Sayouh stated that the residents of Al-Hasakah city suffer from a great human tragedy due to the interruption of drinking water, as a result of the inhuman practices of the Turkish occupier and its mercenaries, as he put it.
Sayouh pointed out that these practices are represented in cutting off the water from the Alouk station, the only source of drinking water for one million Syrians.
The Governor of Al-Hasakah called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to intervene quickly, by participating in efforts, to alleviate the crisis of cutting off drinking water for the residents of Al-Hasakah and its suburbs.
The Syrian government has been making calls to international organizations to stop the encroachments on the station, and to distance it from political and military conflicts.
The Syrian government considered that cutting water to about one million citizens, who depend on the water coming from the station as the only source of drinking water, is a described war crime.
The number of Alouk project wells is 34 wells, in addition to 12 horizontal water pumps, through which water is produced approximately 80,000 cubic meters per day.
