For the first time in 10 years, a Swiss organization begins work in Daraya

The representative of the Civil Committee in Daraya Mazen Al-Azab said that a Swiss organization started working for the first time since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, to contribute to the restoration work along with the rest of the organizations, state institutions and the local community, pointing out that the Syrian Trust for Development and Manarat Al-Moadamiya had a role in introducing the organization.
The civil committees play a coordinating role with donor organizations, government institutions, and the Syrian Trust for Development. According to Al-Azab, the international organizations currently working in the rehabilitation of the city and its educational institutions are: “The Norwegian Organization, Qadir Organization, and First Aid Organization” and their role is determined in carrying out the work. Providing the supplies and needs for the reconstruction of schools and handing them over to the local community.
The mayor of Daraya, Marwan Obeid, told Al-Mashhad that work is underway to rehabilitate the destroyed schools in cooperation with international organizations, whether the “Norwegian Organization” or “A capable organization.”
Obaid pointed out that local efforts were the basis for the process of starting the restoration of all institutions, noting the efforts with educational institutions to secure the necessary cadres for these schools after rehabilitating them.
While the advisor of the Qandeel Foundation for Sustainable Development, Dr. Tammam Hilal, spoke about the importance of coordination with the United Nations organizations and its development program, as the Foundation provides the organizations with the special classification of schools damaged during the war, the percentage of destruction, and an inventory of what can be secured for the return of educational life, pointing out that there are facilities for the work of organizations (Swiss, internationaland Oxfam) to begin its work in the devastated areas.
