74 farmers from Tel Hamis, who received American seeds with nematodes that are not suitable for cultivation, actually planted them on their lands, despite the fact that it was confirmed that they were infected with “nematode” disease, despite the media campaign launched by the Ministry of Agriculture recently, which alerted the farmers To the danger of its cultivation and the need to avoid it, the Director of Directorate Agriculture in Al-Hasakah Governorate, Saeed Hajji, said .
In an exclusive statement to “Hashtag”, Hajji revealed that the seeds infected with “nematodes” are of Turkish origin, and were distributed by the American occupation to several areas in Al-Hasakah, adding that “the seeds were brought from northern Iraq to Syria under the eyes of the American occupation and on orders from it.” The quantity was estimated at about 3 thousand tons, a portion of which was distributed to 74 farmers in the Tel Hamis area, at a rate of 2.5 tons for each farmer.
Hajji points out that the matter was discovered by “personal efforts” in the governorate, and a sample of the seeds was taken for analysis in the laboratories of the Ministry, to find that each kilogram contains 30 nematodes, while the laboratories of the Ministry refuse any quantity of seeds that includes 3 Preparing nematodes and converting them to grind directly.

The 74 farmers who were implicated in planting invalid seeds, the Directorate of Agriculture cannot help them at the present time, as Hajji says, “because their lands are outside
control of the Syrian army,” but their situation prompted the alerts to the rest of the farmers in the province, who demanded a periodic and continuous examination of any kind of seed before planting it on their lands to verify its safety.
Hajji pointed out that the percentage of nematodes found in American seeds (of Turkish origin) constitutes an epidemic that may spread to all the surrounding lands, stressing that production in the first season will be very weak and the soil will be unproductive for four consecutive seasons, unless the lands return to the control of the army. Syrian and “we were able to cultivate all the lands quickly,” says Hajji.
