Al-Hasakah Governorate witnessed a new “honor” crime yesterday, Monday, in which a minor girl was killed.
Civil sources in al-Hasakah reported that the third honor crime in a short period was committed yesterday in the al-Kallaseh neighborhood in the center of al-Hasakah.
The sources added that the girl, “Aya Muhammad Khalifou”, was killed yesterday by her father, “Muhammad Khalifou”, by suffocation.
The sources indicated that the father strangled his daughter until she died, under the pretext of “washing away shame.”
Civil sources said that the girl’s father tried to bury her after killing her in Al-Shaddadi area, at a time of high temperatures yesterday afternoon, to hide his crime, before he was arrested by the Kurdish “Asayish” forces.
During the past few weeks, Hasaka witnessed two “honor” crimes, which sparked widespread condemnation on social media among Syrians.
Following the new crime, a demonstration by women took place in the Kallaseh neighborhood in the center of the city of Hasaka, to protest against the crime.
The demonstration included dozens of women and girls, who went out today in Al-Kallaseh neighborhood, to protest the murder of the underage girl “Aya Khelifou”.
