On Friday, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense revealed the circumstances of the death of one of its pilots during training in the United States.
The Ministry of Defense responded to news reported by some satellite channels and social networking sites regarding the martyrdom of Colonel Ammar Assi Hamdan, attributed to the Army Aviation Command, in a statement that “the martyred colonel was in the United States of America for his participation in the course of the commander of the three-week air mission in Ft. Rocker”.
The ministry stated that “on Saturday, August 20, during the field studies program activity near Marina in Florida, the colonel was part of a group of trainees participating in an approved and supervised tour of the Chiola River. At approximately 12:55 pm, Colonel Ammar Assi fell Extensive searches were conducted, and the search teams were unable to find his body until the morning of Monday, August 22.
A joint investigation was opened into the accident between the US Army and the Ministry of Defense through its representatives in the Military Attaché in Washington, in addition to the Iraqi embassy there to find out the circumstances of the accident and to find out the truth of what happened, “according to the statement.
The ministry confirmed that, through its representatives in the United States, from the first moment of the accident until the recovery of the body of the martyr until now, it is present, step by step, to follow up all the special procedures until the arrival of his body to Baghdad.
