Saudi Arabia ends the suspension of travel with national identity card among the countries of the Cooperation Council

Saudi Arabia

On Friday, the authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issued a new decision regarding movement to and from the Kingdom for its citizens and citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, according to which it was decided to end the suspension of travel with the national identity card.
The General Directorate of Saudi Passports confirmed in a statement via Twitter that travel with the national identity card will be available for its citizens to the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, noting that it will allow the citizens of these countries to enter their territories with the same document.
The Directorate stressed the need for travelers to ensure that the conditions imposed for entry to these countries are fulfilled, stressing that the family record card is not a document that can be traveled with.
Saudi Arabia suspended travel via the national identity card against the backdrop of implementing precautionary measures to protect against the emerging “Corona” virus, which imposed the beginnings of the emergence of the Corona pandemic and the requirement of the passport to travel through land, air and sea ports.
It is worth noting that the Saudi authorities confirmed last March that they would continue to suspend travel via the national identity card between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
On May 16, 2021, Saudis were allowed to travel to and from the Kingdom after a suspension of more than a year and four months. However, Saudi passports confirmed at that time the continued suspension of travel via national identity card among the countries of the Cooperation Council.
After permitting travel in May 2021, the Saudi Ministry of Interior decided to specify categories that are allowed to travel, such as immunized citizens who received two full doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, as well as those who received one dose, provided that 14 days have passed since they were vaccinated with the first dose, as appears in the “Twaklna” app.
