The Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority issued a new decision regarding the procedures for activating cellular devices for those coming to Syria.
The authority said that “activating the mobile devices coming to Syria through the border posts and Damascus International Airport is done by filling out a form (activating a personal mobile device) and sending it to the authority to grant it the authority to work on the Syrian network for a period of 30 days from the date of entering the country.”
And it added in a statement yesterday that “this procedure comes within the framework of addressing the complaints received by it regarding the procedures for activating cellular devices, for those coming to Syria, which include not informing arrivals of the need to fill out a form to declare their cellular devices upon their entry, in order to give their devices a 30-day validity to work on the Syrian network.”
The communications indicated that “in the event that the required form is not filled out within the border center and it is not possible to return to the center to fill it out, the authority will allow the form to be filled in at the authority’s headquarters located in Damascus, because there are no branches of the authority in the governorates by virtue of the nature of its work, after confirming the date of entry stamped on the passport.”
It pointed out that “despite the fact that the commission is not competent to do this procedure, it will work to increase the identification panels at the border posts to guide those coming to Syria to fill out the form.”
The authority had suspended the mobile customs duty as of March 18, 2021 and up to six months, that is, until next September, and confirmed the existence of devices three times more than the number of current subscribers, so the customs were suspended in order to give priority to importing basic materials needed for citizens.
