Spokesman for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Jordan, Mishaal Al-Fayez, confirmed that the “Zaatari” camp will remain a temporary solution for refugees, despite the passage of 10 years since its establishment.
Huge population
Al-Fayez revealed that about 81,000 refugees are currently residing in the Zaatari camp, and they receive all basic services such as health, education and others, in addition to assistance provided by UNHCR and its partners, according to the Al-Mamlaka website.
Improving the level of services
Al-Fayez explained that UNHCR, in cooperation with local authorities and partners, continued to search for ways to improve the level of services to provide the basic needs of refugees, and enable them to rely on themselves through job opportunities.
