The first Syrian comment on the grain ship anchored in the port of Tripoli

Today, Tuesday, the Syrian ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Abdel Karim Ali, revealed that the embassy followed up on the detained ship in Tripoli, with the legal and political references concerned with Lebanon.
Ali explained in an interview with one of the Syrian radio stations, that the papers and documents related to the ship were verified, pointing out that it was found that the Syrian ship was regular.
Ali considered that the claim by Ukraine that the ship’s cargo is “stolen and illegal” falls under the category of “politicization” and that it is intentional, indicating that the issue regarding it is proceeding positively.

No criminal offenses

Earlier in the day, the Lebanese Public Prosecutor allowed the ship accused by Ukraine of transporting stolen flour and barley to sail, after investigations concluded that there were no criminal offenses against it.

The ship is stuck!

Media sources reported that the ship is still unable to leave at present, due to a second detention order issued by a judge in the northern city of Tripoli, where the it docked.
An official at the Ukrainian Embassy in Beirut announced that his country had requested judicial cooperation from Lebanon, where the ship is docked, which led to the extension of a detention order for another 72 hours.
Last Friday, the Lebanese Public Prosecutor of Cassation, Ghassan Oueidat, issued an order to seize the ship pending an investigation into the source of its cargo.

Denial of the Ukrainian allegations

The Ukrainian embassy in Beirut announced that it believed that the ship, which docked in the port of Tripoli, last Wednesday, was carrying 5,000 tons of barley and 5,000 tons of flour that were taken from Ukrainian warehouses.

For its part, the Russian embassy in Beirut said that it had no information about the shipment on it, denying allegations that it had stolen grain from Ukraine.
An official at Loyal Agro Ltd., the owner of the shipment, which is based in Turkey, announced earlier that the ship was carrying 8000 tons of flour and 1700 tons of barley, denying that the shipment was stolen from Ukraine.
