During the minutes of its meeting held on Monday, April 11th, the Jordanian Council of Ministers crossed out the phrase “the Syrian regime.”
The Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister, Tawfiq Krishan, asked to cross out what was said by Representative Ali al-Khalileh, about Syria, accusing him of violating Jordan’s water rights and calling on God to remove the system from the minutes of the parliament’s session, according to what was reported by the Jordanian “Ammon” agency.
Krishan said, in a statement, that “Jordan’s relations with all brotherly countries are constantly improving, noting that Jordanian-Syrian relations are good.
He stressed that communication with the Syrian side is continuing on all issues, including the issue of water.
The council agreed to cross out the phrase “removing the Syrian regime” from the session’s minutes.
And the proposal of the Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Safadi, to strike out the phrases was voted by 40 deputies out of the 66 deputies who attended the session.
Relations between Syria and Jordan after 2011 witnessed many transformations, as Jordan supported the armed factions in southern Syria, but after the Syrian army liberated the area, Jordan began to search for the return of relations, especially after the opening of the “Nassib” crossing.
The King of Jordan communicated with President Bashar al-Assad, and high-level exchanges of visits took place between the two countries.
