The Minister of Electricity, Ghassan Al-Zamil, revealed the success of the workers at the Zara power plant in maintaining and rehabilitating the second steam group and linking it to the network, including the turbine, boiler and chimney with national expertise and plant cadres, and the introduction of about 200 megawatts to the network, and that the workers’ efforts saved more than 10 million euros on the public treasury and accelerated Maintenance process by reducing the scheduled schedule from six to four working months.
Al-Zamil confirmed that the completion of the rehabilitation of this group, along with other groups in the Rastan and Aleppo plant, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year, will bring about 600 megawatts into the network.
While sources in the ministry estimated that entering about 200 megawatts of service would improve the electrical supply to the network at an hourly rate if the volume of demand for electrical energy remains constant during the current period and that a relative improvement will appear on the network, but any change in the weather condition towards cold causes Greater demand for electrical energy, thus increasing consumption and absorbing the generation quantities introduced by the second group of the Zara station.
The Director General of the Zara thermal power plant of Electricity, Mustafa Al-Shantout, indicated that the rehabilitation of the second steam group in the Zara power plant achieves a production capacity of about 200 megawatts, which raises the production capacity of the Zara power plant to 525 megawatts, where about 300 megawatts are currently being generated, of which 125 megawatts. From the first group and 175 megawatts from the third group, and that with the entry into service of the second group, the production capacity of the first group can be raised to 185 megawatts.
He pointed out that maintaining this group and bringing it into service in a record time represents a qualitative achievement because the traditional situation for maintaining such groups is usually through the use of the manufacturer exclusively, but the general conditions that the country is going through and the state of siege prompted it to rely on local expertise and work cadres, especially that There is a lot of distinguished local expertise and possesses very important skills and expertise that are used, and that thanks to the maintenance of the station and the implementation of periodic maintenance, this Electricity station still maintains its capacity and production capacities despite the passage of more than 21 years of implementation.
