The Minister of Electricity reveals the cost of repairing the electricity line linking Jordan with Lebanon via Syria

The Minister of Electricity, Ghassan Al-Zamil, revealed that the cost of repairing the electricity line linking Jordan and Syria to Lebanon exceeds 12 billion Syrian pounds.
Al-Zamil explained that the implementation of rehabilitation and maintenance works takes between 2-4 months from the moment the actual work of rehabilitation begins, noting that “the damage to the line included the destruction of about 80 towers whose cost exceeds 6.9 billion pounds.”
It is noteworthy that the eight electrical interconnection project was aimed at linking the electrical networks in Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Libya and Lebanon, including the Jordanian-Egyptian-Lebanese-Syrian-Libyan electrical interconnection, where the electrical energy exchange contract between the Jordanian-Egyptian sides was renewed in 2012.
The Jordanian electrical network is connected to the Egyptian electrical network with a 400 kV submarine cable that extends across the Gulf of Aqaba with a length of 13 km and a capacity of 550 megawatts.
The energy exchange contract between the Egyptian and Syrian sides and between the Syrian and Jordanian sides was extended during 2012.
