The Syrian government is trying to activate the “Participation Law”

The Syrian Council of Ministers approved the proposal of the Ministry of Electricity related to a project to rehabilitate, operate and invest the Deir Ali station.
The Council stressed the importance of completing this project on the level of generating energy in the country, and on the level of its positive effects on the level of the electrical network upon its completion.

The approval came during a session of the Participation Council, which was held under the chairmanship of the Syrian Prime Minister on 2 June, and its details were conveyed to the official website of the Presidency of the Syrian Council of Ministers.
The Ministry of Local Administration and Environment has been assigned to complete the necessary procedures to implement a project to rehabilitate, develop, manage and invest the solid waste treatment center at the Al-Burkan site in the Salamiyah region.

The projects proposed for participation, according to what was reported by the Prime Minister’s website, included a photovoltaic generation project in Deir Attia, Damascus Suburbs, with a capacity of 50 megawatts.
And the Ministry of Electricity was assigned to complete the procedures for implementing the project or to propose a new project for its implementation in accordance with the Participation Law.

The project of the Ministry of Industry to establish a factory for the production of pharmaceutical glass bottles in the General Company for the Glass Industry in Aleppo was also discussed.
The Ministry was assigned to provide the Participation Office in the Planning and International Cooperation Authority with a proposal for new projects and sites that meet all requirements.

Tourism projects

The council discussed the two projects of the Ministry of Tourism, which include the establishment of an integrated tourism complex of five stars in Lattakia governorate and a tourist city in Tartous governorate.
The council assigned the Ministry of Tourism to complete the necessary procedures to implement the two proposed projects in coordination with the Partnership Office, in addition to coordinating with the Tartous Governorate to stop abuses and encroachments on marine property.

East West Road

With regard to the Ministry of Transport’s project to establish an “east-west” highway starting from Tartous, passing through Homs Governorate and ending with the Iraqi borders, the Participation Council decided to assign the Ministry of Transport to prepare a new proposal that meets the requirements and what the ministry needs and is capable of preparing related studies.

Regarding the solid waste treatment project according to new technologies, the council requested the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment to provide the Partnership Office with an integrated proposal on the mechanism of managing this issue.
The Syrian Prime Minister called on the ministries to complete the preparation of files and files of the proposed projects in order to achieve competitiveness and prepare projects of real economic feasibility in the various development, economic and service sectors.
Arnous stressed the need for the Participation Office to follow up on the issue of rehabilitating and training human cadres with regard to participatory procedures.
