United Arab Emirates concluded the “Billion Meals” initiative with a record sum of 600 million meals so far donated by institutions, companies and businessmen, and 320,000 individuals, in addition to 400 million meals to complete the one billion meals provided personally by Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The “One Billion Meals” initiative achieved its goals in less than a month after the contributions of (320,868) donors accelerated the achievement of the initiative aimed at feeding the needy in (50) countries around the world, and the influx of contributions from individuals, companies, government and private sector institutions, businessmen and pioneers of charitable and humanitarian work in UAE through The website, bank account, text messages, and the initiative’s call center.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that the “Billion Meals” campaign and other humanitarian initiatives launched by UAE are a continuation of the legacy of the pioneer of charitable and humanitarian work, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the current Emirati leaders have managed to achieve a qualitative leap in the areas of relief aid through many innovative initiatives, including food feeding initiatives coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan every year, which developed from (10) million meals two years ago to (100) million meals last year, and then expanded to one billion meals this year, amid a record turnout for contributions from the people of the good and the owners of white hands and benefactors.
The specific events that supported the initiative played an important role in achieving the goals in record time, including the “Noble Number” charity auctions for distinguished numbers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the tender race for government institutions, companies, schools and educational institutions, and the “One Million Meals Campaign.”
The campaign’s achievement of its goals was accompanied by a comprehensive societal interaction at various levels with individual and institutional donations and moral support through digital platforms and social media, and the start of early distributions of food and food parcels in (13) countries.
