The news of the arrival of two Iranian oil tankers from the Syrians did not require waiting for new days at the gas stations.
According to what was said to “Hashtag”, many car owners have flocked to gas stations to fill up their cars, since the early morning hours.
Indeed, Mazen Dabbas, a member of the Executive Office of the Transport and Communications Sector in Damascus Governorate, confirmed that the first tanker began pumping fuel.
In exclusive statements to “Hashtag”, he indicated that the process of supplying gas stations will take place “overnight.”
This crisis is supposed to end within the next few hours, with the start of distributing requests to the governorates and the return of quantities to what they were previously.
Cancellation of previous decisions
The other thing that Dabbas confirmed is that as soon as the supplies reach the gas stations, the Damascus governorate’s recent decision, which stipulates stopping the supply of public transportation with the fuel designated for it on Saturday, will be cancelled.
Dabbas pointed out that the Damascus Governorate found stopping the supply on Saturday, adding to it the Friday “specified by a previous decision” better than the mechanism of decreasing 10 liters from the specified quantity for each mechanism on a daily basis.
Referring to the arrival of two Iranian oil tankers, Dabbas said that Damascus Governorate is in constant contact with the Ministry of Oil, to ensure the status of oil supplies.
Dabbas said, “The last supplies are two ships, the first is small, they have been emptied, and we are waiting for the start of pumping and distribution.”
The “big” steamer
As for the second “large” oil tanker, Dabbas stressed that it needs larger and broader measures than the first “small”.
With reference to the work of the concerned authorities to secure the Syrians’ need of fuel as soon as possible.
During the last ten days, Syria suffered from a shortage of petroleum products, especially diesel.
This is as a result of the delay in the arrival of supplies, which caused confusion in the internal transport movement.
“Oil” and breakouts
A source in the Ministry of Oil had confirmed to Al-Watan newspaper, earlier yesterday, that Syria would witness breakthroughs with regard to oil derivatives such as gasoline, diesel and fuel, starting tomorrow, Wednesday.
This is after the arrival of two oil tankers carrying nearly two million tons of crude to the Baniyas Refinery and the start of unloading their cargo.
The source confirmed to Al-Watan newspaper previously that the refining process will start immediately, and that the required quantities of oil derivatives will begin to be distributed successively to all Syrian governorates, which will contribute to reducing bottlenecks in these materials.
The source concluded by emphasizing that there is a scheduled program for the supply of oil, and as a result of the siege and measures imposed on Syria, in some cases there is a delay in the arrival of oil tankers, and this is a matter beyond the control of the Syrian authorities, which causes these temporary bottlenecks.
